June Griffin, Independent Candidate for Governor of Tennessee
June Griffin of Rhea County, Dayton, has filed her petition to run as Governor of Tennessee as an Independent. She has run several times for other offices, gleaning approximately 3,000 Republican votes against Congressman Zach Wamp in the last Third District race.
She issued the following statement:
“The current political situation has proven an exasperation with the Republicans, with whom I have been aligned for years. It is my experience that Congress has shown impudence and disregard for the people, best demonstrated by Congressman Zach Wamp who sent me a certified letter to refrain from calling his office again.
“Generally speaking, the Republicans stand ready to make compromises with the most outlandish and unconstitutional proposals and laws, and cow`towing to mandates to get “money back into their districts.” These conciliations have stripped the common citizen of the most normal and necessary Rights, while we are forced to shut up and pay the bills.
“It is a disgrace that qualifications for public office should be measured by the amount of money one can raise, making parties rather classified as: Fundraiser A vs. Fundraiser B. Donors to campaigns should be unknown to the candidates to avoid political obligations. The motivation for donations should be called into question publicly.
“This must stop. We must have a Governor who not only is bound to both Constitutions but will use force, if necessary, to withstand the tyrannies which are exercising themselves from Washington. We must have a Governor who will stand behind the Sheriffs to keep us from said tyrannies and who dare not compromise the liberties which our veterans fought for.
“All mandates must be void of penalty. This will end the exaction and extortion of this system of virtual bribery. Authors of mandates must be publicly announced and oath taken to determine their motives for such mandates.
“Tea parties and other citizens’ rallies have shown a disgust and disdain to political jeopardies and despotism. As head of the Tennessee Committee for the Bill of Rights, it is this movement which I will stand by. Why should we tolerate a State saturated with illegals when the common citizens are treated like chattel?
“I will also search the State for unheralded citizens who have volunteered their time and money to secure our liberties and restore the foundations, and who have been persecuted by an out-of-control judiciary and legal system and the system of mandates and their grants.
“My reasons for running for office have been twofold: to give the people a real alternative, and to exercise the great citizenship privileges which God gave us so that I may give a full and good account in the day of Judgment. “To whom much is given, much is required. Americans will be required to answer for their blessings before the Great Judge, the God of our Fathers.
“The following Press Release from Bill’s Board in Milton, Florida, demonstrates best the testimony which I hold before the public. My record of litigation against the ACLU and the IRS has been broadcast across the nation, as well as my voluntary work for the Right to post the Ten Commandments. Eighty-five of the 95 Tennessee concurred in the Ten Commandments Resolution making a firm statement that Tennessee is overwhelmingly a State which fears God and “wants America back,” to say nothing of the various Sovereignty Resolutions which are being passed to stand behind such as the Tenth Amendment to the Bill of Rights.
“The office of Governor is charged to unite the people. Our unity will lie in the tie that binds elected officials to our Constitution, notwithstanding case law which is contrary to these ancient, oath-bound pillars of liberty. Please read the following commentary from Florida by an astute observer.”
Bill’S board COMMENTARY – OPINION
TENNESSEE’S SARAH
While Sarah Palin may be the darling of the Republican Party, Tennessee has it’s own
“Sarah” wrapped up in Dayton’s matron, June Griffin, candidate for governor.
Griffin believes strongly that a person should be elected to office based on their determination to enforce Constitutional laws, not because of their partisan allegiance. Thus, Griffin will appear on the ballot as an independent.
Griffin is a co-owner of a dental lab business with her husband. She has previously run for office. She has presented written and oral arguments before the Tenn. Appeals Court, doing the legal work herself, more notably during the Tenn. Sodomy case. She fearlessly will stand tall and call a spade a spade.
Among her other endeavors, Griffin founded the Citizens for Decency in Taxation; the Tenn. Committee for the Bill of Rights; author/composer of more than 300 songs, hymns, and poems.
She runs her campaign from her home at 522 Crestview, Dayton, and declares that she values one’s vote in November more than a financial donation. What a concept for a person running for office!!
Griffin is a noted historian; a member of the East Tenn. Historical Society and the Chattanooga Historical Society. She is known as the “Tennessee Mockingbird” through her column in the People News of Bradley County.
Griffin made her formal announcement last June at the Prohibition National Conference in Memphis. Though a member of the Prohibition National Committee, Griffin believes one’s partisan affiliation is secondary to representing all the people of the state regardless of their party.
Like the Founding Fathers, Griffin believes that God still moves in the affairs of men. She believes the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are inseparable. Certainly not Beltway thinking.
